Lupin dye.

Now I have done the first dyes with lupin flowers, and I have to say that I was very pleased with the result. The yarn dyed a lovely clear mintish green colour, and I would definately dye more yarn with lupins later.

There are lupins growing anywhere along the roads around here, so it did not take me long to gather enough flowers to fill the pot.

I have done two different lupin dyes. The first time I dyed 150 grams of yarn. The yarn sucked up all the dye from the pot, so I was unable to dye a second time in the same dyeing pot.
So I went out again to gather more flowers, made a new dye and dyed another 100 grams of yarn.
There is a slight different in the colour from the two dyes, but what a gorgeous result :)

Hi, Hilde! You dyed the yarn clear mintish green using the blue Lupin – what a fascinating result. I think I know how exciting it was to await for the outcome.
