After our Sunday walk I have been thinking about the wild blueberries in the woods, and yesterday morning my oldest daughter and I went to the woods to pick blueberries.
We picked about 5-6 litres before we had to go back.

When we got home I sat down to cleanse the berries.
Two litres of blueberries were determined for jam, and I packed two smaller boxes of berries in the freezer for blueberry cake later. The remaining blueberries were frozen. We will go out for more berries and then make blueberry juice later.

There were ten small jars of blueberry jam, made from two litres of blueberries and one litre of sugar. It tasted very nice :)
This will keep us with blueberry jam for at least untill next summer.

Deilig Deilig med blåbær
Er enda litt tidlig her.

Blueberries - they remind me of my beloved sister - she lived with her family near a forest in Bavaria, where plenty of blueberries grew. The last summer before she died, while visiting her, we went together blueberry picking. It was a beautiful summer afternoon, the late sun rays shone through the tree tops, we talked and laughed while harvesting, we had a good and valuable time, afterwards we ate them with milk and sugar - one of my many wonderful memories of her...

Oooohhh... blueberries!!!!They remind me of Bavaria too (that's my mother's home-region)... I would pick them with my mom when we went to visit our German relatives in the summers of my childhood... such lovely memories! Forests and blueberries...

I wish we had wild blueberries here, Hilde! As it is we are growing our own but they arent ready yet. Your jam looks lovely and it will last you for a good while too.

I rarely see wild blueberries but I often see trees of summer orange (Chinese citron). I have an aunt who has several trees of them. Every year I’m given lots of summer oranges, and I make orange marmalade. If possible, I’d like to exchange my orange preserves with your blueberry jam.
