Signs of spring, week 7 / Vårtegn 2013, uke 7.

Week 7 of the Signs of spring challenge hosted by Elin/In the garden by the wood.

It has been overcast here today, and a strong wind has been blowing, almost like a storm. Not the best weather for photographing signs of spring... but I have been outside taking photos anyway. The photo quality is not so good, but the signs of spring are lovely nevertheless :)

Once again I start by the scillas by the house wall. More and more have kept popping up, and now they are filling out the whole flower bed.

Inbetween the scillas the red shoots of the peonys are stretching.

During the weekend I have tidied and cleared several of the flower beds in the garden, removing all the brown remains from last year's  growth.
Snowdrops, liverleaf and crocuses are still blooming, but there is much more breaking through now. The little shoots are hardly visible on an overview photo, I need to crawl on my knees to spot all that is happening in the flower beds :)

This is the large flower bed under the apple tree, and there I have spotted the first tiny primula buds.

Noen flere nærbilder fra hagens bed:

More close ups from the flower beds:

The Muscaris are on their way now.

Rosenrot / Rose root.

Blomstrende rødhyll (denne har stått i potte i drivhuset).

Flowering red elder (this has been in a tub in the greenhouse).

And the chives are growing nicely. It's time to start harvesting a little :)

Wishing you a nice and spring-like new week.
Hope you see many new signs of spring :)

It's so great to see spring blooming, thriving and turning nature into an amazing painter's palette! And you know one other thing, Hilde... I so enjoy seeing spring once again through your eyes, as it's coming later in Norway -- it's so fascinating to see how it develops up there! Today I had a little trip to the mountains, and driving up I saw all the phases from winter to full spring... you drive up and it's like slowly going back in time... then when you come down to the valley again, you travel through the seasons again! Amazing! At one point I thought that this must be about the same stage that Scandinavian spring must be... the first signs of spring -- that's at about 1000-1200 m here I guess. I saw a bit of "your" spring up in the Alps!
Enjoy Nature's awakening, Hilde, this is such a wonderful time of year!!!

I thought we were behind in the UK Hilde, it seems as if you are slightly behind us too. Its lovely to see all the gorgeous flowers and the plants stirring from their slumbers.

You have a beautiful yard! And I remember how wonderful early spring is ...every time you go out to the garden, there are new discoveries!

We don't garden any more and here in Florida it is too warm for most of these kind of flowers. So I love the memories they bring of our former home .... in Oregon.

Such encouraging signs of spring! The pretty blue scillas are so cheery, and I love that blue/white striped flower ... it reminds me of old fashioned springtime dresses & parasols. I've still not got to gardening yet, but this week promises to be a good one weatherwise, so I've got my sights set on clearing up. Wendy
